Annabel and I enjoying Skateraw near Dunbar

One minute you have a settled life, a job, house and activities in the local community – then you meet someone, you sell up, and decide to explore around the country house and pet sitting!

Well that might not be what everyone decides, but it did to us – Annabel and I met a few years ago, and after some thought, (not too much) we sold my house in Cornwall and haven’t looked back since.

Being digital nomads, we have both managed to continue our employment, while enjoying the privilage of our circumstances by seeing various parts of the United Kingdom.

So far, we have had enjoyed a steamy beer festival in Yorkshire, Christmas in Sussex, New Year in Scotland and a breezy Easter time in Wales.

Along the way we have met some wonderful people, great pets and I hope those who follow these pages will enjoy following our journey.

Please feel free to get in contact with us, and we’ll be glad to share our experiences – of being no home, digital nomads!

Our Journeys and Explorations.

  • Dent To Settle

    Dent To Settle

Today was an ambition fulfilled, crossing Ribblehead Viaduct by train; yes I know there are tougher ones, more ambitious ones, but nevertheless this was something I had wanted to do for a long time. Arriving in Dent last night, we had a relaxing evening with friends, and today, (following a brief morning walk with the…

  • Biddulph Grange

    Biddulph Grange

Following our, or I should say more my intention, to avoid service stations on long journeys, we found a lovely National Trust property to stop at on our journey north from Edlesborough, (where we had stopped with friends on Friday night). Biddulph Grange, we found to be an interesting Victorian house, with some very niche…

  • A Museum, At Last

    A Museum, At Last

Finally, after weeks in Winchester, I made it to at least one of the museums. I was told that purchasing a ticket with Gift Aid gave me a year of free visits, which meant I could take a relaxing stroll around the building with no rush to read and do everything during one trip. I…

  • Mottisfont

    Mottisfont

A chance to get out and explore. I was still a little weak from the lurgy strike, but we went out to get some fresh air and explore the National Trust property of Mottisfont. The wind was attackingly cold, so we just explored the house, which was an interesting building with an exhibition of water…

  • Winchester Explores

    Winchester Explores

Over the last few weeks we have been in Winchester, but sadly due to Covid, weather, appointments and visits to mum in hospital, we haven’t explored much. However, below are a few photographs of our walks around Winchester, and hopefully I’ll get chance to explore fully now the weather is changing for sun 🙂

  • Romsey Twice

    Romsey Twice

Covid has struck? Annoingly after a few trips to visit mum in hospital, I picked up the lurgy and was out for the count. However, back on the mend, I can now share a few updates of our recent visits. Having dropped my watch on the floor of a crib hut in a Cornish Tin…

  • Winchester Tales

    Winchester Tales

Okay, I know, I know – it’s been a while, too long in fact! Simple reason, we’ve been running up and down the country seeing things; we have a few things to report since October! I will start by saying our sits are now longer in one location, which makes daily updates a little less…

  • Brigadoon, Pyatshaw

    Brigadoon, Pyatshaw

Well you learn things by chance, I never knew Brigadoon was a real place. On the way from Edingburgh to East Greenlaw we stopped at a location to walk our little charge. As Rosie ran around, I explored the lovely little hamlet by the side of the road. Some charming cottages, stone arches and the…

  • Hailes Castle

    Hailes Castle

A New Year walk along the river Tyne, near East Linton, found us at Hailes Castle, which in its day would’ve been a beautiful place to live over looking the river. Sadly, it’s another castle that suffered the Cromwell fate, (he did appear to smash up a lot around Scotland), but the site is still…

  • Preston Mill & Phantassie Doocot

    Preston Mill & Phantassie Doocot

One of our catch up posts, about the visit to Preston Mill & Phantassie Doocot at East Linton. We stopped here to walk the dog, and to give me thirty minutes to explore the mill, even though sadly it was closed on the day. A well restored old mill, with its Dutch-style conical roof the…
