Finally, after weeks in Winchester, I made it to at least one of the museums. I was told that purchasing a ticket with Gift Aid gave me a year of free visits, which meant I could take a relaxing stroll around the building with no rush to read and do everything during one trip. I picked this week The Rifleman’s Museum, which turned out to be well worth the entrance fee. I found this to be a very well laid out museum with displays and information boards that gave a good context to the various ‘fracas’ Britain has got involved with over the years.
I would recommend a visit to any of the museums in Winchester, and though the cost of seeing everything might be eye watering (question mark over why you can’t purchase a joint ticket for all sites in the city) it is certainly worth doing if you can.
I will update this blog with more photographs, in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy the few below.
