A simple day, catching up with one of Annabel’s other friends who lives in Shaftesbury, and also a friend from Sherbourne, who we hadn’t seen for way too long – we head into town to grab some bits for lunch, and a quick explore. Shaftesbury is a lovely tidy town, though sadly the familiar scene…

Easter Sunday, and we decide to just chill – I have to drive home tomorrow for a few days, and so the time is taken up with a little preperation and then a trip to a local pub for an evening Sunday roast.

Cirencester on Good Friday – arrived about 6pm, and had a lovely chat with our house hosts – meeting their two dogs, (who are travelling) and the cat – who is our new charge. A lovely ginger cat – who we are told enjoys a conversation – and this turns out to be true. She…

Cirencester in the morning, and we explore the lovely town centre, with its Abbey, quaint streets, and plentiful shops. Annabel wonders to the market, and I explore the outside of the abbey. It is not difficult to find the history of Cirencester, and even a quick venture inside a photography shop reveals a Roman passageway…

Good Friday arrives, and sadly we have to leave Holyhead, a sit that has become one of our favourite, not least because of our charge Oslo – he has made everything so easy, even though his running over rocks meant an unexpected trip to the vets – just to be on the safe side. Oh…

Saturday – and Annabel has the castle bug – early breakfast to beat the traffic on the Menai bridge, and we get to Caernarfon about 10:30am. Caernarfon Castle is a fanstic example of castle building, and a lot of it remains intact – it is easy to imagine living in the building during its use…

A bit of exploring today, as we ventured to the Menai straight – to look at Telford’s and Stephenson’s bridges. There are so many pages on the web about these bridges, that I will just share a few photos – the history, and sad fire that destroyed Sephenson’s bridge can easily online.
