Today is the final day in the castle. It has been a fantastic stay, with loads of cuddles from the dogs, great weather and some lovely opportunities to go out and explore.
After packing the car, I jumped on a train from Burntisland and headed into Edinburgh, while Annabel decided to stay at the castle to do some work and drive down to Dunbar, ( our next port of call) later in the day.
Edinburgh was, well, wet, however the National Museum of Scotland was not – though choosing a day to visit during school holidays..!? The noise of what appeared to be the entire population of Scotland’s excited children on the ground floor was deafening. So I had a cunning plan – start my visit at the top floor and work down.
The museum is full of fantastic exhibits, displays and models, with great information boards explaining the context, social impact and societal changes of invention, evolution, invasion, and change.
From Edinburgh I headed down to Dunbar to meet Annabel’s family. A lovely evening playing games and catching up, with perhaps one too many drops of wine.
