A bit of a hurkle-durkle morning, as we all lazed in for a later than normal start to our morning walks, breakfast and chores.
Hurkle-durkle being a word that popped up on Annabel’s sisters feed, and apparently is an old Scottish term meaning – ‘to lounge in bed long after it’s time to get up’.
Dogs walked – we were about to leave for our test drive when little dog saw an opportunity with the front door open to make a dart for freedom, and the nearby rabbit warren – three of us calling, shouting, and encouraging, for her to return, made no difference as she scurried around the various trails to her hearts content – we have learnt to wait for her to get bored at these moments, as she shows no interest in anything, but hunting the live rabbits – the fact she is served rabbit in her food, with no exercise required, appears to have not crossed her mind.
To the test drive – we got to the garage and were left with half hour to browse as the sales rep went off to another customer – this gave us an opportunity to sit in the Duster – which saved a test drive – there was nowhere to rest the left foot – I do wonder at designers who worry about such things as USB sockets, bluetooth connections, cruise control, and coffee cup holders, but don’t consider the comfort of having somewhere to rest your feet while driving!?
Anyway, in the end we both liked the look and space of a Mazda CX 5 – so we are now discussing cars again – still no progress on the armoured vehicle option though 🙁 see yesterday blog.
Scallywags
Finally, we had time in the afternoon to start doing some of our receipes from the places we visit.
The first one being Scallywags or rascals – a Yorkshire take on the scone, see our post here.
We followed the BBC receipe, and though at the time of writing, I haven’t tried them – they smell – well – blooming lovely. 20 minutes to prep, 20 minutes to cook – guessing 5 minutes to munch.
We also tried some fashion/fruit bowl designs – we welcome comments. Annabel didn’t appear too sure on my ideas though.
