Well I never thought I would visit this railway station, but thanks to a problem with the car, and the garage changing it’s mind on whether the car was safe to drive or not, I ended up catching a train from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch to Bangor, which also meant a trip over the Britannia Bridge, something, which again I never thought I would do.
With the winter light, and the overcast cloud, the scene was not great for photography, however I made the most of the opportunity and grabbed a few pictures, before boarding the train to Bangor.
When I arrived at Bangor railway station I was impressed with how tidy it looked, and the lovely cafe situated on the up platform, however the city could only really be described as down on it’s luck. I know I was visiting off season, and with an overcast sky, but the high-street felt beaten, and uneasy to walk around. It is sad to see so many towns and cities struggling around our country, but Bangor appears to epitomise the decline of our shopping high-streets.
I’ve added a few photos below of the day.
