Sunday 11th August, and we find ourselves invited down to Portsmouth Harbour to catch up with a couple of friends. While Annabel heads off to relax on a leisure cruiser at Fareham Creek, I spend the day on a launch, which tends to pleasure boats broken down around The Solent.
We couldn’t have asked for a better day, as once more the sun and blue skies blessed us with perfect weather.
We only had a few calls to boats broken down around Gosport and Portsmouth, so we spent most of the day bobbing at anchor.
The highlight came about 4 o’clock as a Spitfire flew overhead and the aircraft carrier, H.M.S Prince of Wales returned to her home port. Moored inside the harbour, just out of the channel, we had a prime spot to watch the harbour tugs bring her safely through the channel and into her mooring.
Fish and Chips on the sea wall at Port Solent with a late night to bed, both of us totally knackered.
Tomorrow I’m off to Forest Row, as we split our house sitting duties between two locations.
