Well the day has come, and Annabel and I know it. We will miss our two lovely Scottish Deerhounds, the castle and BurntIsland too, ( especially the bakery 🙂 )!
We packed the car, and braced ourselves for a tear to two. Thankfully the weather and time permitted a last sit in the garden to enjoy our dogs, and a last cream dougnut.
Using my app, we were able to watch the aircraft land, that meant the dogs rightful owners had landed back at Edinburgh airport, so as agreed I caught the train and left ahead of Annabel. I had been hoping to travel across the Forth Railway bridge since we arrived, and this was my chance!
Crossing the bridge, I enjoyed my trip to Edinburgh and a hour around the Scottish National Gallery.
Annabel stayed behind to hand the dogs back, and then drove down to Dunbar for our rendezvous.
What followed was an unplanned drink with Annabel’s sister and brother-in-law, before we drove down to Rippon and our hotel stop on the way south.
A mixed day of emotion, but pet sitting does come with the sadness of leaving the animals who have become our friends, as much as our charges.
