Cirencester in the morning, and we explore the lovely town centre, with its Abbey, quaint streets, and plentiful shops. Annabel wonders to the market, and I explore the outside of the abbey.
It is not difficult to find the history of Cirencester, and even a quick venture inside a photography shop reveals a Roman passageway in the store room – a lovely place, with an active market, good food and bustle.
For the afternoon we venture out to the Roman villa at Chedworth – a National Trust property. One of the largest Roman villas found in Britain, it is a remarkable place to visit, with murals, fountains and victorian hunting lodge – apparently the victorians thought that was a good idea! What did the Victorians ever do for us?
