Today found us working for the majority of the time, but we squeezed in a trip to Haywards Heath to pick up some Christmas bits.
First though, morning found us once more walking the dogs up and around Ashdown Forest; we parked near to the old Nutley Windmill.
Built during the time of Henry VIII, Nutley Windmill is the oldest working open-trestle post mill in Sussex. Sadly the building is closed until March, but the exterior looked in very good condition, and it is certainly a place to visit again, when hopefully it will be operational.
With the joy of seeing the windmill, we ventured off in the afternoon to Haywards Heath.
Our journey was pleasant over the forest and through some quaint looking villages, which we both enjoyed looking at; however, it is difficult to describe the experience of Haywards Heath high-street as anything, but ‘ugly’ – (in my view, and I try to enjoy most places I visit). A bygone throughfare street for London, the buildings built on either side, display a complete lack of imagination to their frontage, and leave a very uninspiring experience, even though the shops are well stocked – and that’s all I can say about Haywards Heath!
In the evening Annabel had an online party with some friends, so I concentrated on the evening meal, while working and managing the dogs.
