Very much a day of sorting out the house – first rule of house sitting, make sure the house looks ‘similar’, or at least ‘familiar’ to the one the owners left!
Starting the day off with the usual dog walks, the red lab and I went for a decent wonder across the fields and around the common – red lab now out of season, so deemed sociable to mix with the boy dogs around the area.
Annabel did a pie for the owners to share on their return – I got rid of the recycling of shame, which had built up over the last few weeks – few good evenings in the memories of the various beer and wine bottles that are aimed for the crusher – the handily available carafe has also been cleaned and put back in its proper homely place.
Owners returned, and now Annabel and I appear forgotten by the dogs – reduced to the occasional cuddle from the lab – and all, but ignored by the little one – its best not to become too close to the pets we sit.
Tonight we all shared the pie and had a good catch up.
Tomorrow – we remain at Oakhanger, as one of the owners is due in hospital – we are more than willing to help, until everything is back to normal.
