We arrive in Dunbar on the Monday focused on our preparations for the big weekend. With everything planned, but at times feeling like nothing is organised we check into the Dolphin Hostel, which is a wonderful place to stay in Dunbar, with relaxed rooms, shared kitchen and enjoyable surrounds.
Starting off the week by catching up with the owner of the hostel, we spend the next few days sorting out the last odds and ends to make sure everything is ready for Saturday. We prepare a welcome meal for the Friday, and we get the last bits of printing done. We also use the week to meet up with our friends from Dent and visit some family to complete arrangements.
In-between the practical parts of the week, we manage to enjoy some downtime, including a bbq at Skateraw, with just us, which is wonderful. Monday and Tuesday ticked off – now the tricky few days as guests, relatives and friends arrive.
Wednesday my parents are due, they’ve decided to fly up having had difficult journeys in the past using trains and motorways. Annabel and I set off to meet the parents at Edinburgh airport, only to find there has been a radar glitch. This means the parents are delayed by three hours, but gives us chance to have a lovely meal with a few friends who have arrived, and meet Annabel’s sister who has just arrived in from Australia. Silver linings and all that.
Thursday and it’s the hen and second stag do. The girls go jumping off cliffs into the sea around Dunbar, the lads, well we go into Edinburgh for a sensible drink and curry!
Our wedding run in has gone well….ish so far.
