A stag do when you are 50, compared to when you are 18, is chalk and cheese. Older, possible wiser, we had a very well paced day around the city of Brussels, it was more a great get together with friends than a party on day!
A relaxed breakfast, and a metro journey out to the Atomium, which started off as a test of our patience, the queue took a hour to go through, and it appeared very random on who was getting allowed into the lift. An impressive structure with a fascinating history, the tour covered it’s construction, which was interesting, and the changes in HSE from when it was built, to it’s recent refurbishment is telling!
It was the dome with the art, lights and music display, which brought the experience alive; we all found it a ‘trip out’, the darkness and lights created a wonderfully reflective atmosphere, and it is a location I am very glad to have visited.
From the Atomium, we went into the centre of Brussels and the Belgian Brewers museum. Not all of us enjoyed the displays, though we all enjoyed the bar and the garden rooftop view! Personally, I would go back!
The evening…well, it was a stag do!
