We have a week of travel coming up, and it started today with a drive to Eastbourne to stay with Annabel’s aunt and uncle, so Annabel could try on a wedding dress nearby. We caught up with the family, and had a lovely afternoon in the Yew Tree pub, before an evening relaxing back at the house.
On the Monday Annabel went off to try on her dress, while I went for a walk along Beachy head, somewhere I had always wanted to explore, but never had the chance. A gentle stroll up from East Dean and over the top to the National Trust cafe at Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters.
A really great cafe, with a wonderful collection of information about Beachy head, from the Geology to recent events such as shipwrecks and storms. The location is well worth a visit, just to learn a bit about the coastline around Eastbourne.
From the cafe, I walked up to Beachy Head itself, and then down to Eastbourne for lunch. A great morning stroll.
Annabel returned from trying on the dress, and we drove back to Winchester, via Arundel, (Annabel fancies an ice cream). A beautiful town, with loads of history, which is quite obvious as the castle dominates the town skyline. An active shopping street with quirky shops of avenues and the main square. We’ll be coming back here.
