We have spent today exploring the beautiful city of Dinan, with its well preserved city walls, castle buildings, medieval houses, cobbled streets and attractive river front.
Searching for breakfast, and fitting in work around our explorations, proved the most difficult part of the day.
After catching up with emails and customers in the morning, we followed the historical trail from the Chateau, (next to where we are staying) by moving through the cobbled street Rue De Lehon towards the main artisan shops. Along the way we continually stopped and gazed at the historical buildings – photographing almost every half-timbered building we saw. Just when I thought I had taken enough photos of the medieval street scenes, another was required.
We were fortunate to take our walk at the local lunch-time, so the streets were clear, allowing easy photography without waiting for tourists and residents to clear the view.
Following the streets to the Rue de Jerzual, we were led down the cobbled way, to the old port situated on the river Le Rance, which winds itself into the valley below Dinan, all the way from Saint-Malo.
We enjoyed a light lunch by the river, before venturing back up the same street, through the city gate and back to the hotel – where we decided to leave now unwanted cameras and belongings to hit the shops. I can’t share what we bought, as these are the gifts for Christmas et cetera. 🙂
Tonight, its Crepes for tea.
